The Seeker Ajrakh Cotton Stole - House of Amayra

Rooted, not costume.

Some pieces find you before you find them.

The Seeker Stole is hand-block printed in the ancient Ajrakh tradition — its deep teal and black ground blooming with ochre shades, and the soft drift of cloud motifs that have floated through Indian textile art for centuries. In Vedic imagination, clouds are the carriers — of rain, of longing, of the space between what is and what is becoming. Here, they drift across the fabric quietly, held by a lattice of geometry and bloom.

This is cotton that drapes like a conversation — easy, unhurried, going wherever you go. Wrap it over a linen shirt on a morning walk. Layer it over a kurta at dusk. Let it be the thing people notice without knowing why.

The Seeker doesn't announce itself. It simply belongs, everywhere.

Craft Story — The Soul of Ajrakh

Ajrakh is one of India's oldest living textile traditions — born in the desert communities of Kutch and Sindh, carried through centuries by master block printers who understood that cloth could hold cosmology.

The motifs in Ajrakh are never decorative accidents. Clouds, stars, paisleys, and flowering vines map the natural and celestial world onto fabric through a painstaking resist-print process. Natural dyes — indigo and harda for the teals, madder and pomegranate for the ochres — are built up in patient layers. The cloth is treated, washed, sun-dried, and printed across multiple days. Each block is carved by hand. Each impression is placed by hand.

What you hold in The Seeker Stole is not a product inspired by a craft. It is the craft — carried forward by the same hands, the same knowledge, the same unhurried process it has always demanded.

Care Instructions

Natural dyes reward gentle hands.

Wash: Hand wash in cold water with a mild, ph-neutral detergent. Wash dark colours separately for the first two washes.

Dry: Lay flat or hang in shade. Avoid direct sunlight — it will soften the depth of natural teal and black over time.

Iron: Medium heat on reverse side. Cotton settles quickly.

Store: Fold loosely in a breathable cotton bag. Keep away from damp and plastic.

A note on natural dye: The depth and variation you see across the fabric is not inconsistency — it is the fingerprint of hand and process. Your stole is singular.

Wear it rooted.
