Bold yet deeply rooted in tradition, the Stripes of Rann Ki Kala Dupatta reimagines Ajrakh through rhythm, movement, and scale. Crafted in cotton and naturally dyed in rich red and indigo, this dupatta brings together broad stripes, delicate choti booti Ajrakh blocks, and fluid brushstroke-inspired elements that echo the waterways, salt channels, and shifting textures of the Rann. The result is a textile that feels graphic and contemporary while remaining firmly anchored in the vocabulary of heritage craft.
The design plays with contrast—structured stripes create a strong visual rhythm, while the smaller Ajrakh bootis soften the composition with intricacy and detail. Running through the piece are brushstroke-like forms inspired by the natural flow of water across the desert landscape, adding movement and an almost painterly quality to the textile. The combination of deep indigo and warm red gives the dupatta both vibrancy and depth, recalling the meeting of dusk skies, earth, and hand-dyed cloth.
Printed by hand using traditional Ajrakh block-printing techniques, each dupatta is shaped through a meticulous process of resist printing and natural dyeing. The cotton base makes it breathable, lightweight, and easy to drape—perfect for everyday wear while carrying the richness of artisanal craftsmanship.
At HOAN, we create textiles that honour tradition while allowing space for experimentation, storytelling, and contemporary design. The Stripes of Rann Ki Kala Dupatta embodies this spirit—where the geometry of Ajrakh meets the movement of landscape.
