Rooted in the timeless language of Ajrakh, the Neel Rann Ki Kala Dupatta celebrates one of the craft’s most enduring expressions through colour, geometry, and heritage. Crafted in cotton, this naturally dyed dupatta features an ancient Ajrakh geometric block composition across the body, framed by rich indigo borders that lend depth and definition to the textile. The result is a piece that feels at once grounded, graphic, and deeply connected to the history of Kutch.
Its distinctive bottle green tone is achieved through natural dyeing using pomegranate rind and harad, creating a shade that is earthy, nuanced, and full of character. Paired with indigo, the palette evokes the desert after rain—the meeting of sky, soil, and sparse vegetation across the Rann. The geometric block used in this dupatta is among the oldest in the Ajrakh vocabulary, carrying with it generations of artisan knowledge, precision, and cultural memory.
Printed by hand through the traditional Ajrakh process, each dupatta reflects the beauty of slow craft—layered, thoughtful, and marked by subtle variations that make every piece unique. The soft cotton base offers breathability and an easy drape, making it a versatile textile for both everyday wear and more considered dressing.
At HOAN, we honour the enduring beauty of traditional craft while creating textiles that remain relevant, wearable, and deeply meaningful.
