Bandhani tells its stories in dots. This napkin reads them in squares.

Bandhani Geometry takes its cue from the tie-resist dot patterns of Gujarat and Rajasthan and translates them into a printed form: small clusters of four black squares, scattered across an earthy rust-brown ground. It isn't bandhani itself, but a quiet reinterpretation of its rhythm. The motifs sit at gentle angles, so the pattern feels loose and a little irregular, like a scatter of tiles.

The motifs are applied by block printing on 100% linen, so the print sits within the cloth's natural slub. The edges are finished with a neat stitched hem.

It's a napkin that pairs easily with warm neutrals. Place it on a cane charger over natural linen, beside cream stoneware, or against deep chocolate and berry on the dessert plate. It's grounded enough for a formal dinner and relaxed enough for a weekend table.

Linen is absorbent, dries quickly and softens with every wash, so it's made to be used, folded, creased and kept.

Styling suggestions

  • Earth on earth: Use a natural or oatmeal linen cloth, cream embossed plates and a rattan charger, as in your first photo. Keep everything in warm neutrals so the black motifs stand out.
  • Dessert pairing: Chocolate, berry and coffee desserts suit the rust tone and the black print.
  • Contrast table: Try it on a deep green or indigo cloth. Rust against a cool dark tone makes the napkin feel bright.
  • Brass and clay: Add brass cutlery, terracotta bowls or amber glassware.
  • Fold: A crisp rectangle shows the most print. For a relaxed table, a loose roll in a wooden ring.
  • Occasions: Autumn and winter dinners, Diwali tables, housewarming gifts.
