Description
Naturally Dyed Ajrakh Fabric — Cotton Mul
House of Amayra
Aria Lotus is a textile inspired by the architectural poetry of historic Indian forts. The design draws from the intricate jaali jharokha screens that filter light through carved stone lattices, creating rhythmic shadows and geometric harmony.
Hand Printed on an airy Cotton Mul base, the fabric carries three distinct colours of Ajrakh pattern flowing across the textile, creating a layered visual rhythm reminiscent of architectural panels and lattice windows. The composition balances geometry and fluidity, echoing the elegance of traditional jaali motifs while remaining light and contemporary.
The fabric is coloured through natural dye processes, where shades gradually develop through repeated printing, washing, and sun drying. The result is a textile that feels breathable, soft, and quietly luxurious—perfect for relaxed resortwear and effortless summer silhouettes.
Fabric & Craft
Fabric: Cotton Mul
Technique: Traditional Ajrakh Hand Block Printing
Dyes: Natural dyes
Ajrakh is a centuries-old block printing tradition practiced using hand-carved wooden blocks and natural dyes. Each pattern is applied in stages through a meticulous process of printing, dyeing, washing, and sun drying.
The layered approach allows colours to develop depth and softness while preserving the characteristic precision of Ajrakh geometry. Because each stage is done by hand, every length of fabric carries subtle variations that make it unique.
